1. General Breathwork Questions

If you are new to breathwork, start with Box Breathing (4-4-4-4) or Diaphragmatic Breathing. Box Breathing is balanced and intuitive, making it suitable for any time of day to improve focus and ground your energy.

Breathwork is beneficial at any hour. Morning practice (Box or Resonant breathing) sets a calm, focused tone for your workday. Evening practice (4-7-8 breathing) prepares your nervous system for restful, deep sleep.

2. Nervous System & Science

When you slow your breathing to around 6 breaths per minute with extended exhales, lung stretch receptors send electrical impulses via vagal nerve afferents to the brainstem. The brain stem responds by releasing acetylcholine, which decreases heart rate and lowers systemic blood pressure.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures the variation in time intervals between consecutive heartbeats. Higher HRV indicates a resilient, flexible autonomic nervous system capable of adapting quickly to stress. Resonant breathing (5.5s pace) is clinically proven to maximize HRV.

3. Safety & Precautions

Lightheadedness usually indicates hyperventilation or temporary CO₂ reduction. Immediately pause the exercise, open your eyes, and return to your natural, unforced breathing rhythm until full stability returns.
